The Bandabuliya covered market sits between the two, and the whole old town is small enough to cover on foot in a morning.

Nicosia is not a beach destination and does not pretend to be. What it offers is a genuine working city, the shortest transfer from the airport, and a central position: Kyrenia is thirty minutes north, Famagusta fifty minutes east, and the crossing to the south is inside the city itself.

That makes it a practical base for anyone combining north and south in one trip, or for visitors who would rather stay somewhere that carries on existing outside the tourist season.
